Structural Composition / Division of the Centre

CBAAC is made up of different units which work together to achieve the mission statement of the centre. These units are listed below:

Directorate / Director General's Office

At the Centre’s helm of Affairs is the Director-General who is also the Chief Executive Officer. Together with the Management Team, the D.G oversees the day-to-day running of the Centre’s activities and implements the broad policy guidelines as contained in the enabling statute establishing the Centre or as directed by either the Board or the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture. The other units under the Director-General’s office are the Stores and the Internal Audit units.

Administration and Human Resource Management Department

This department services other divisions by providing them with the necessary administrative and support services. Its scope of operation includes Personnel Administration, Maintenance Services, Budgetary Control, and Secretariat services.

Exhibition and Museum Department

This department houses the Artworks and Artefacts which demonstrate the creativity of the African Peoples. These materials were inherited from the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC ’77). These are being augmented from time to time with donations from countries and international organizations such as UNESCO and African Union (A.U).

Documentation Service Department

The collections in this department are in two parts; the Archival and the Library collections. The Archival collections consist of records from the International Secretariat of FESTAC, colloquium papers and proceedings of the International Festival Committee (IFC) meetings and other rare materials of historical and cultural significance.

The Library on the other hand consists of publications retrieved from both the International and National Book Exhibition Pavilions of FESTAC ’77. The Library stock are books essentially on Black and African Arts and Culture are regularly updated by purchase or by donations from Government or Individuals.

Research and Publications Department

This is the Department charged with the responsibility of research and publications of materials on all the facets of Black and African Culture. It seeks to highlight the contributions, which the Black and African peoples made, and continue to make thereby contributing to the pool of universal knowledge. This department also organizes workshops, seminars, conferences, and symposia on all aspects of Black and African Cultural Heritage.

Finance and Accounts Department

The Finance and Accounts Department is responsible for ensuring the efficient financial management and financial controls of the Centre. It oversees the Centre’s Accounts Payable and Receivable, Payroll, Inventory Cost Management, Systematic Record-Keeping, Budgeting, Reporting, and Financial Statements.

Information Management Department

There are two sections under this Department; the Audio-Visual and the Information Technology sections. The Audio-Visual section houses FESTAC VCDs, CDs, DVDs and videocassettes, gramophone records, FESTAC promotional films, and films on Nigeria and Africa’s Cultural festivals.

The Information Technology section is charged with the acquisition, preservation, documentation, and utilization of Information and Audio-Visual materials that are of interest to Black and African Cultural heritage.

Corporate Affairs / Marketing Department

This Department is in charge of the Centre’s publicity and some of her corporate activities. It is in charge of the Print, Electronic and Social Media relations which ensure that the Centre and her numerous publics are constantly in contact. This Department also coordinates the sponsorship drive, planning, and execution of some of the Centre’s corporate events, as well as other Public Relations engagements.

Board Secretariat

The Board Secretariat is the department in charge of the meetings of the Board and those of its committees. They keep records and conduct the correspondences of the Board as well as serve as a link between the Board and the Centre’s Management.
